has developed a series
of ultra-strong driveshaft assemblies
that incorporate CV joints
in place of conventional U-joints.
They are primarily intended for
use in drag cars with the transmission
positioned close to the rear
end (like Dragsters, Altereds and
Funny Cars), with limited suspension
travel.
There are a number of important
advantages to this design, the foremost
being the CV joint’s ability to

The kits feature a unique dome
shape designed to work with early
85cc 5.7L heads including the
2009+ 65cc 5.7L heads and the 74cc
6.1L cylinder heads. This PowerPak
Plus Kit offers cylinder head interchangeability
that can be combined
with a variety of stock and aftermarket
gasket thicknesses to achieve a
large number of compression ratio
combinations. Manufactured with
2618 alloy for increased high temperature
strength and durability, the
pistons are dual coated with phosphate
and MAHLE’s GRAFAL®
skirt coating for reduced drag and
wear and optimized ring lands for
maximum durability in power adder
applications. Included with this
kit are 1.0, 1.0, 2.0mm coated steel
rings, HV385 steel top, steel Napier
2nd & standard tension oil rings.

joint —a very important consideration
with 4-link suspensions. It’s
also less prone to vibration.
M-W’s CV shaft package is available
to fit “shorty” Powerglide
transmissions with 27 or 32-spline
output shafts. The assembly consists
of a tail housing, driveshaft
and pinion yoke. And while the CV
setup is substantially more expensive
than a conventional driveshaft,
it can prevent costly problems from
U-joint failure.

■ Strange Engineering continues
to improve and expand its product
line with the introduction of
its new Steel Dragster spindles and
the next generation of Adjustable
Height Funny Car spindles.
The new Strange Engineering
dragster spindles are machined
from billet Chrome Moly material.
After heat treat, the spindles
are finish ground to exacting standards
before the bronze bushings
are installed and align honed. The
lightweight Strange spindle will
accept any Anglia style dragster
wheel. The spindle kit also includes

The next generation Adjustable
Height Funny Car spindles have
been designed with a strengthened
billet aluminum body and
heat treated chrome moly spindle.
The adjustable height funny
car spindles allow for simple ride
height and chassis preload adjustments
at the track by relocating
spacers. The spindles will accept
the Strange steel or carbon spindle
mount brake kits and all existing
Anglia style spindle mount wheels.
