RPM, almost all speeds were down from the
2017 NHRA Gatornationals at which every DI
Top Eight speed was recorded. Erica Enders
was the exception, however; she hit qualifying
efforts of 213.64 and a career-best 214.18 in her
Rick Jones-built Elite Chevy.
PRO STOCKERS SCREAM
IN ORLANDO AIR!
If any category of machinery could take full
advantage of the incredible weather at the
inaugural DI World Doorslammer Nationals, it
was Pro Stock. Like Pro Mod, the Pro Stock
cars competed under NHRA rules with an
NHRA Technical Inspection on hand but were
not racing for records. Although the overall
NHRA ET and speed marks weren’t exceeded,
the quickest elapsed time ever clocked by any
EFI, RPM-limited car in the history of the class
was posted at Orlando. Likewise, almost a doz-
en other drivers recorded their personal bests
in a corrected elevation which sometimes
hovered within a few feet of sea level.
It was past ADRL Pro Stock World Champi-
on Matt Hartford, wheeling his Jerry Haas-built
Total Seals/NitroFish Camaro, who posted a
simply astonishing 6.460 which just missed
beating Jason Line’s five year-old 6.455 ET Re-
cord for carbureted Pro Stocks. Third-genera-
tion pilot Aaron Stanfield in the Janac Brothers
Haas Camaro made the list of career-bests,
(6.467), along with NHRA World Champ Erica
Enders’ Elite Camaro, (6.468), Greg Anderson’s
Summit ride, (6.470), Deric Kramer’s American
Ethanol Chevy, (6.472), Jeg Coughlin’s Elite
Camaro, (6.478), and Kyle Koretsky’s NitroFish
rig, (6.480), in a truly breathtaking top half
of the field.

BRUNET PUTS A FOUR-
BANGER IN THE FIVES!
Carl “Top Gun” Brunet had just dropped the
all-time Four-Cylinder record to 6.07 three
months ago at Orlando but the intrepid
Quebec pilot returned to make history by
obliterating that mark by twelve hundredths of
a second by recording a simply indescribable
5.951 at 230.80
mph, (and also
ran a mind-numb-
ing 232.11 mph).

Haas-built 2011
Pontiac GXP,
powered by a
turbocharged 128-cubic inch four-cylinder Eco-
Tech, owned every four-banger record in the
books with the exception of the eighth-mile
speed standard which stood at 184.21 mph
since 2018 by Trinidad racer Muhammed Ali’s
2005 Nissan Silvia. Carl crushed that mark, too,
with a 188.31 mph blast connected to another
record eighth-mile ET at 3.861.
Another blow was struck by Import racers
at the event when the turbocharged 2JZ-pow-
ered “Venenum” 2018 Scion FRS from Puerto
Rico of Dr. Arnaldo Rodriguez Santiago made
a test run of 5.67 seconds at Top Speed of the
entire DI World Doorslammer Nationals, 261.17
mph, just missing his own 262.39 Six-Cylinder
