BOOTS IN THE BEAMS
Elizabeth Haas waits for the go-ahead signal to send her husband, Joey, into the prestage
beam for a lap in the methanol-burning “Nimrod” Mustang Funny Car. The couple met
through nostalgia Funny Car racing, as Elizabeth was starting to make licensing passes
in an alcohol Funny Car after growing up in the bracket racing scene around Nashville.
While Elizabeth has traded out driving for the back-up girl duties for now, she aspires
to finish licensing, potentially in Joey’s car. Away from the track, Elizabeth owns and
operates The Barn at Murphey Farm, a wedding and event venue near Nashville.
