BLACK MAGIC Who said zoomie-style headers can’t make incredible header flames?! Luis “Voodoo” de Leon, FuelTech’s technical director, lights up the South Georgia starting line as he takes off on his first-ever night run in Brian Shaw’s James Hancock-tuned ‘69 Camaro. The Brazilian driver and the car itself were both making their Radial vs. the World debut. De Leon has made countless dyno hits in high-powered doorslammers on FuelTech’s hub dyno, while the car is a proven winner on big tires in PDRA Pro Nitrous. He qualified No. 21 and actually went quicker than first-round opponent Paolo Giust, though he lost the race on the starting line.
