Sweden’s Jimmy Alund (far lane) and Andreas Arthursson heat up the slicks during the fourth and final
qualifying session at the “Main Event,” the season-opening race for the FIA European Championship
Drag Racing Series. Alund, the defending Pro Mod champion and 10-time Pro Stock champion, shook
the tires in the supercharged “Old ‘51” Chevrolet Business Coupe on this pass, though he qualified No.
4 with a 5.867 at 239.96 mph on a previous attempt. Meanwhile, Arthursson in his turbocharged ‘69
Chevelle slid past Alund with an unbelievably close 5.865 at 242.90 to qualify No. 3.
