IT COULD HAVE BEEN a crushing loss for
Daniel Pharris and surely there was dis-
appointment after losing in razor-thin fashion
to Alex Laughlin in the Radial vs. the World
final round at Lights Out 10. But what Pharris
found out about his turbocharged Mustang at
South Georgia Motorsports Park was invaluable,

adding a whole new level of all-purpose potential
thanks to his standout performance.
The Mustang had already performed at a high
level in the Pro Mod and drag radial ranks, but it
continues to make vast improvements on radials,
summed up by Pharris’ runner-up performance
in Valdosta that opens up even more doors of
new possibilities.
“What we’ve done, we’ve basically made a box
of radial stuff, and everything in this box you have
to put in this car to run in Radial vs. the World,”
Pharris says. “When we get back and want to run
Pro Mod, we can go in the closet and get our
Pro Mod box back out. The shocks haven’t been
touched, we know where the weight goes and
we know where the wheels go. It’s like a bolt-on
kit for your truck.”
Only this kit goes more than 210 mph to the
eighth-mile, as Pharris did multiple times at
SGMP. He qualified sixth in the loaded class
with a 3.670 at 211.43, staying in that impressive
range in eliminations.
It started with a 3.681 at 210.54 to open elim-
inations and Pharris was remarkably consistent
throughout, going 3.698 a round later and 3.684
at 209.92 in the quarterfinals. Pharris knocked
