ROLE
REVERSAL
Leah Pritchett is usually the one behind the wheel racing at a
high level for Don Schumacher Racing, while her husband, Gary,
excels in his role as a clutch specialist for Steve Torrence’s highly
successful Top Fuel team. But those roles got reversed on occasion
at the U.S. Nationals, where Gary made his NHRA Top Alcohol
Funny Car debut, driving Jonnie Lindberg’s championship-winning
Camaro at the prestigious race. It was a successful weekend,
too, as Gary, who is also licensed in Top Fuel, advanced to the
semifinals before losing to world champion Sean Bellemeur. Of
course, Leah was right there helping her husband, lining him up
before each pass in what was a cool scene to take in all weekend.
