The Dragstalgia Cannonball class combines nitro- and methanol-burning Funny Cars Funny Cars
and Fuel Altereds. Each driver’s elapsed times from three qualifying runs are added together
for a total qualifying time. The two racers with the lowest total would face off in the final round,
with Nick Davies defeating Ramon Van Der Weurf.
At Dragstalgia 2014, the engine of Doc Stinger’s Dodge Challenger Methanol Funny Car explod-
ed. Since then the team has saved money and built up a new engine. This year, they made their
comeback with a vengeance. The Challenger-bodied “Stinger II” was running on 75 percent
nitro for the first time and was hitting the 6-second zone in only its third attempt.
