Racing in front of a throng of fans and supporters at what is considered the original
“no-prep” race, Team Black’s Al Gonzalez (near lane) successfully defended his
King of the Streets (KOTS) Spring 2016 Jr. class title earlier this year, driving his
‘70.5 Camaro to the final-round win over Tim Leech in his boosted LS-powered
Trans Am. Gonzalez’s Camaro, a true leaf spring car powered by a Induction
Solutions-equipped 402ci BBC, charged toward the finish line while Leech lost
traction, got out of shape and tagged the wall with the front end.
