MIKE MORAN SAYS “MY NAME’S NOT ON IT
IF IT DOESN’T HAVE SWAIN COATINGS IN IT”
Drag racer Mike Moran, known for Street Car and Pro Mod records,* started using
Swain’s piston and bearing coatings in 1994. He’s done so continuously since. When
he ran nitrous he depended on Swain’s thermal barrier protection to save his en-
gines. A Swain protected engine will run 40 passes. An uncoated engine could only
do 20 passes before a tear down. Mike uses Swain to insure engines live noticeably
longer. Swain coatings can save an engine on a lean pass even with turbo. Mike
has tried other coatings when reps handed out free coated parts. None (as in none)
ever worked for him. The coatings products other companies supplied to Mike wore
away and dome coatings flaked off. Mike has a 24,000 sq. ft. shop
with dynos and all the tools. He pulls engines down regularly to get a
read on wear and looks for distorted ring lands-he likes what he reads
with Swain protected engines. He builds for many other racers and
tells them to use Swain coatings to extend the life of their engines.
