MOVERS & SHAKERS
COWBOY UP
During Saturday night’s
show at Lights Out 8,
DI Editor-in-Chief Wes
Buck was presented
with one of the legend-
ary cowboy hats that
have become synony-
mous with winning Don-
ald Long’s Lights Out
and No Mercy races.
DRAG SHOOTERS
Talented drag racing photographers
Joe McHugh and Roger Richards,
whose work has appeared countless
times on the pages of Drag Illustrated,
strike a humorous pose in between
shooting pairs of doorslammers at a
PDRA test session in Memphis.
BONDING TIME
PDRA Pro Boost standout
John Strickland and his
Junior Dragster-driving son,
Holt, pose for a photo in the
staging lanes before John
straps in to the GALOT Mo-
torsports 1969 Camaro. John
finished second to teammate
Kevin Rivenbark in Pro Boost
points, while Holt posted an
impressive fourth-place fin-
ish in Top Junior Dragster.
Red Hat Mafia
Josh Ledford, one of several members of Pro Line Racing’s “Red Hat Mafia”, was in
high demand over the winter. He was back in the US for Lights Out 8, but he spent
most of his winter in the Middle East as a tuner on the world record-shattering
EKanoo Racing Lexus RCF. The one-of-a-kind import qualified number one, broke the
et record, and won the event at every race it entered.
SHARP DRESSED MAN
Bryson Knowles, the youngest son of
NHRA Pro Mod driver Mike Knowles,
sports a miniature pinstriped crew
shirt as he stands proudly in front
of his father’s supercharged “Mob
Edition” 1969 Mustang.
THE UNIT
NHRA and PDRA Top Dragster wheelman Zach Sackman stands alongside the
blown Top Dragster he shares with older brother Matt, who works on Antron
Brown’s Top Fuel car. The Illinois-based brothers recently signed a full season
sponsorship agreement with Hangsterfer’s Metalworking Lubricants to support their
2017 nationwide tour.
