UP IN FLAMES
Longtime northeast drag racer Leroy Dewdney was anticipating a routine single run during testing at the Mopar Eastern Classic when his Pro Modified 1963 Corvette lost control . Dewdney ’ s supercharged machine started the pass in the right lane before getting crossed up and shooting across the centerline between the 330-foot and eighth mile cones . The fluids on-board erupted into a dramatic ball of fire upon impact with the left-lane retaining wall . Dewdney escaped from the fiery carnage shaken up and with severely singed safety equipment , but without injury .
