Make a difference in the community. Volunteer and become a Board Member!
The Des Plaines Friends of the Parks is currently accepting applications for an open position
on their Board. The Friends are always looking for ambitious and community minded people to
participate in building the organization. The goal is to provide scholarships for children and families
in need, so they can participate in park district programs. Board members spend approximately
15–20 hours per year volunteering at events and participating in meetings, to raise the much
needed funds for scholarships and to generate awareness of the organization in the community.
The Des Plaines Friends of the Parks created Golf in the Dark at Lake Park, which has become their
largest annual fundraiser. Members volunteer at park district events, including the Spring Fun Fair,
Easter Eggstravaganza, The DASH 5k Race, Fall Fest, and Winter Wonderland. Volunteering with us
is also the perfect way for a student who needs service hours to contribute to the community.
If you love Des Plaines as much as we do, please consider becoming a member. Visit our website:
