Friendly Area, on N.E. River Road, north
of Central Road.

Beck Lake Registration Rebate
We are pleased to provide a registration
rebate to Des Plaines Park District
residents who sign their dog up for the
Beck Lake Dog Friendly Area. This is a
safe, friendly environment where owners
can legally unleash their dogs in a
controlled, fenced-in area.
Current Registration Cycle:
October 2019–September 2020
To obtain a Des Plaines Park District
Registration Rebate, simply complete
the proper registration of your dog(s)
through the Forest Preserve District of
Cook County and provide proof of the paid
registration to the park district Business
Office, at 2222 Birch Street.
This rebate program is designed to
introduce residents to the Beck Lake Dog
Friendly Area and will be honored for only
one registration cycle.
The rebate is a Household Credit, applied
to your park district account. The credit
can then be used for paying a program
fee, facility fee, or facility rental fee.
Rebates:
$25 for one dog registration.
$10 for second dog registration.
$10 for third dog registration.

Code Section 8.04 (b)
Dogs on leash* and under control are permitted
in Park District owned parks, including general
open space, non-athletic areas, pathways, and
parking lots. Some restrictions do apply. The
complete policy is on our website, DPParks.org.
*Leash not to exceed 6 feet in length.

Owners must be at least 10. Under 18 must
be accompanied by an adult in class.
Dogs must successfully pass the previous
level before advancing.
Do not buy any equipment prior to the first
class. Proper equipment will be discussed
and available at the first meeting. cy
Please bring to the first class:
• Health information, rabies number,
health certificate, and date of last vet visit.
• Paper towels and plastic bags.
• Paper, a pen, and your dog (!)
Puppy Kindergarten
8 weeks to 5 months
Help your puppy get a good start with Puppy
Kindergarten! This class helps prevent
problems by teaching your puppy basic
manners and obedience. We will also
discuss housebreaking problems, the
importance of crate training, and basic
commands while walking on a leash.
Beginning Obedience
Must be at least 5 months old.
Are you tired of your dog dragging you
down the street?
Is he or she destructive? Learn to enjoy your
dog and get control! Basic obedience is
taught. Your dog will learn to walk nicely at
your side, stay when told, and come when
called. Problem solving is also covered.
Advanced Dog Obedience
Start off-leash work, as well as learning
the American Kennel Club’s newest title
for fun and competition: Beginners Novice.
Both purebred and mixed bred dogs can
earn titles. All dogs must have successfully
completed the Beginners’ Obedience class
or have approval from the instructor prior to
registration.
Rally/Intermediate
Learn Rally, the newest sport for your dog,
following a set course of signs. This novice
level is all on-leash, and very positive for
the dog. All participants must already be
able to do basic levels of obedience to
attend this class.
Registration
When registering, please use the owner’s
information for the participant’s name
and birth date. Include the dog’s name, in
parenthesis.
