Editor’s Letter
Dear Ladies,
Welcome to December!
The year is almost over, and so is
the decade! Wow! Can I ask that
you take a moment to pause and
reflect on the events of your life
this past decade? While some
may have been pleasant and
others dreadful, truth be told, you
are not the same person that you
were a decade ago. So much has
happened in ten years, planned
and accidental. As we get ready
to finish this decade, let’s ensure
that we finish strong and start
the new decade with purpose.
And note that we don’t finish
strong by complaining about
what should have been, we don’t
finish strong by beating ourselves up, and we
certainly don’t finish strong by playing the blame
game. We finish strong by being grateful, we
finish strong by taking a good hard look at our
lives, telling ourselves the truth, acknowledging
where we are and why, and deciding where we
would like to go in the next decade and sketching
the blueprint for getting there; determining
what must change because we can’t keep doing
same old same old and expect new results. Some
things we have done well, and we need to pat
ourselves on the back for those and commit to
doing them more. But there are other things we
haven’t done well, and while we are not allowed
to beat ourselves up, we must acknowledge
these things and commit to improving them. And
looking at where we would like to be in ten years,
we must determine how to get there. Do we
need to go back to school? And please know that
we are never too old to return to school. Do we
need to change our circle? Your circle may have
brought you this far, but can it take you further?
Association is by choice, and we
must be intentional in forming
connections. So, take stock of
your life, be true to yourself,
make changes as necessary and
express gratitude for life. That’s
how you finish strong.
This is DOZ Issue 50, December
2019, and once again, we aim to
inspire and empower you with
the stories and interviews we
have compiled. Our DOZ That
Inspire You is, DiAnne Malone.
She is a writer and founder of
Who’s That Lady Blog. DiAnne
first fell in love with words at
the age of three, and she is still a
lover of words, as demonstrated
by her latest project, 7 Women
7 Words: A Collection of Inspirational Essays.
On this project, DiAnne got 7 women (herself
included) to write their life stories using 7
words. The words used are HER, SHOES, IMAGE,
ANGER, HIM, HELP, SEXY. You will be inspired by
her interview as she takes us on the journey to
writing this fantastic book.
Crystal and Pierre Dunn are our DOZ Show
Preferred Guest. You will be thrilled by their
beautiful story of getting married, getting
divorced, and getting married again. Indeed, they
are better together, and they inspire us to fight
for love!
“DOZ Chronicles: Temisan” continues in this issue.
We hope that you are enjoying the story thus far.
Have a merry Christmas.
Blessings!
