DOZ Inspirational Biography Mercy James eople believe a perfect blend of beauty, wisdom, and power isn’t something easily found in a woman. Some believe that if there is any possibility of it, a black woman won’t stand a chance. This belief was proven wrong by one of the wise and pretty black queens ever to walk the surface of this earth. She is Makeda, the Queen of Sheba. The name Makeda may not be as popular as the title “Queen of Sheba.” She was one of the black women whose name would remain in existence for several reasons such as her association with the wisest man recorded in history, King Solomon. Contrary to the belief of several people that she was white, she was a beautiful black queen whose origin is traceable to present-day Ethiopia. Queen Sheba, who appears not only majestic but mysterious, was one of the women in a love affair with the famous King Solomon. Makeda, who stood out amongst several others because of her wisdom, once made a life-transforming journey to see King Solomon in search of answers to questions. The questions were believed to be tactical and tricky for an ordinary man to answer. The questions proved she wasn’t just a wealthy woman but one with profound wisdom. DOZ Magazine | September 2019 It was recorded that she brought the most substantial quantity of gifts, spices, precious stones, and beautiful wood to the king during her visit. The quality and quantity of the gifts she brought to the king depicted her great wealth and riches, which exceeded that of several men of significance. Contrary to what the people of her century seemed to believe about wealth acquisition, the Queen of Sheba proved gender is not a determinant of riches. Queen Sheba was one of the women who displayed the power of love over decisions. She was a powerful black woman whose love for the wise king Solomon made her convert to Judaism. The affair between the two royals produced a son named Menelik. The act of Queen Sheba earned her a permanent place in history, the Holy Bible, the Holy Quran, and some other religions. Her life was a primary source of influence to so many women who wished to gain recognition and attract the attention of royals and people of power to themselves. Relevance, and not your skin colour, is a primary determinant of the quality of people that associate with you. Greatness attracts greatness. If you must get a place in history as a woman, you must stop focusing on your gender or creating limitations because of your skin colour. You are more than you think you are. 12 P The Queen of Sheba
