Editor’s Letter
Dear Ladies,
passion was birth in her many
years ago when, as a child, she
had the primary responsibility
of caring for her sick and
dying father. She desires that
women will get out of their
comfort zone to seek what
God has called them to do and
become the women that He
has created them to be.
Welcome to July! Is it me or
is the year going past very
quickly?
I had a learning experience
recently that I want to share.
I share this because I learnt
from it and I am hoping that
someone will learn from
it too. I was in a telephone
conversation with a young
woman who had been
recommended to me for a
job. I had called to introduce
myself and what I do and ask
if she would like to be a part of
it. However, I never quite got a
chance as this lady had me on
the phone for about fourteen
minutes talking about her
achievements. At first, it was
okay because her results
meant she was qualified to
do the job I had for her, and
we all want to hire skilled
people, don’t we? But I soon
got irritated because I had
not planned to stay that long
on the phone. It was meant
to be a brief call to introduce
myself and my business, tell
her about the opportunity and
get a decision from her. I did
not need to hear about her
accomplishments for fourteen
minutes. It was available on
the internet and I had checked.
Once, I did get off the phone,
ending the conversation with
something like, “I was going
to tell you about a job I have
for you, but I need to go now,”
I decided I did not want to
work with her. Yes, she was
skilled, but she did not listen.
And at that point, I asked
myself a straight question,
how many opportunities have
you lost Eturuvie because you
did all the talking and failed
to listen? Now, I ask you the
same question, how many
opportunities have you lost for
failing to listen?
