It was a big wedding, and between Ray and his family and my uncle Tony, no expense was spared. Ray’s elder sister, Mildred, flew in from America with her husband and three children to be part of the ceremony, and although we were meeting for the first time, we got along instantly and spent a lot of time together in the days leading up to the wedding, doing a lot of girl stuff and generally having a good time. Just before she returned to America, she told me that all her life she had asked God for a little sister and He had finally given her one. That gladdened my heart a great deal. After the traditional and church wedding ceremonies, Ray took me to Paris and London for our honeymoon, which lasted two whole weeks. Upon our return to Nigeria, I moved into my new home in Asaba and settled into marital life. But because of school, I still maintained my mini flat in Benin, located off campus.
