Planning
ahead
You may not feel ready to downsize yet, but it’s a
good idea to think about your five or ten year plan,
and beyond. The options are varied and looking
ahead can make the process even easier.
For example, you might be healthy and
independent but you just don’t need the extra
space, so downsizing into a smaller house or
apartment that is designed to support you as you
age is all you need to do.
The next step may be to investigate options for
assisted living at home, or in a safe and secure
retirement village.
If the need arises for more care, it might be an
option to transition into an aged care facility where
you will receive all the care and attention you need.
Finding a retirement village that also has an aged
care facility can make that move even easier –
you’ll know the place and the staff well already.
Whatever stage you’re at, it’s a good idea for you,
or your children, to start thinking about where you
would like to live now and the steps you need
to take.
