Digital Workshop for College Media Professors · Deadline set by Program Directors
The Dow Jones News Fund provides advanced digital journalism training for faculty from Historically Black Colleges
and Universities and Hispanic-Serving Institutions. Eligible: College journalism professors at HBCUs and HSIs.
National Teacher of the Year Awards Program · Deadline July 9
The Dow Jones News Fund recognizes high school journalism teachers who have made an outstanding contribution to teaching journalism and/or advising a high school newspaper, newsmagazine or news website. Eligible: Any
high school journalism teacher or adviser with at least three years of teaching experience. Nominations may come
from principals, newspaper editors, other teachers, alumni, press associations or the teachers themselves. Awards:
$1,000 college scholarship for a student of the Teacher of the Year; $500 college scholarships for a student of each
of the four Distinguished Advisers
WSJ.com Subscription Essay Contest · Deadline Sept. 1
The Dow Jones News Fund partners with the publishers of The Wall Street Journal to offer free digital subscriptions
to high school media teachers. Teachers are asked to write 250-word essays explaining why they need The Wall
Street Journal for their classes or staffs. Eligible: High school journalism teachers. Award: One-year subscription to

High School Journalism Workshops · Deadline Oct. 1
The Dow Jones News Fund encourages high school students to consider careers in journalism by providing an opportunity to work with professional journalists and instructors on reporting, writing and editing a student newspaper,
magazine or news website. Eligible: Colleges, schools, nonprofit organizations. Grant: $2,500 up to $8,000
Centers for Editing Excellence · Deadline Oct. 1
The Dow Jones News Fund provides pre-internship intensive training for college juniors, seniors and graduate students, selected through the Fund’s Internship Program, who will work professionally as editors for news media.
Eligible: Colleges or nonprofit organizations. Grant: Maximum of $20,000 for 10 students

Students interested in editing as a career in news and multimedia journalism can apply for training, paid summer
internships and scholarship grants from the Dow Jones News Fund. Eligible: College juniors, seniors and graduate
