The Dow Jones News Fund supported
the Columbia Links workshop at Columbia
College Chicago to provide Chicago teens
training in news literacy, journalism and
leadership skills.
Six of the 15 students enrolled in the
program produced a group project about
Human Trafficking. The students presented
their stories at a town hall event Nov. 6,
moderated by investigative reporter
Renee Ferguson.
HIGH SCHOOL JOURNALISM WORKSHOPS
WRITING COMPETITION
Every year the Fund honors students nominated by their summer
workshop directors for outstanding writing, photography or multimedia contributions. Winners receive $1,000 college scholarships in the
year following their selection. Seven 2013 winners received scholarships in 2014.
The Dow Jones News Fund selected three reporters, two photographers and three multimedia journalists as winners of its 2014 Summer Workshops Competition.

Moody from the Remembering “Freedom
Summer” High School Multimedia Project at the
University of Southern Mississippi and Grace
King, Peace Sullivan/James Ansin High School
Workshop in Journalism and New Media at the
University of Miami.
