DOOR COUNTY’S CLA HAVE BEEN CONVE DOOR COUNTY NEWSPAPER ARCHIVE 1862 - 1941 by Laura Kayacan For anyone interested in the history or genealogy of Door County, the Door County Library Newspaper Archive is a wonderful resource. Thanks to grants from the Door County Library Foundation and the Maihaugen Foundation, along with help from the Door County Advocate, historic local newspapers have been digitized and are available on Internet at http://doorcountynewspapers.org. And thanks go too to the County of Door for hosting the newspapers on a county server. No longer are researchers limited to sharing the microfilm reader located in the Laurie History Room of the Door County Library in Sturgeon Bay. This archive, which first went online in the summer of 2012 and included newspapers published between 1862 and 1923, is available to view throughout the world. And according to analytic data, it’s had viewers from as far away as Norway, Great Britain, Belgium, New Zealand, India and more.
