Speakeasy Option : Fixed or Operable

Most of our solid panel doors shown in this section may be ordered with a “ speakeasy ” option installed ( see photos here ). Two types of speakeasies are available . First option : An Operable Speakeasy has rectangular speakeasy door , and is installed in the upper door panel at an approximate height of 5 ’ 6 ”. This small door is hinged and latched from the interior side of the door , and may be opened and closed from the interior side only . Six glass options are shown below . Second option : The Fixed Speakeasy has NO door , and is a window in the door with a clear glass option only . The fixed speakeasy allows approximately 40 % more light than the Operable Speakeasy option as the glass panel is larger .

Operable Speakeasy Glass Options

Choose from 6 glass texture options to complement your operable speakeasy and door . ( Fixed speakeasy option is only available with clear glass ). Glass textures shown here are produced using a double insulated tempered glass unit to provide safety , security , and energy efficiency . The capacity to see through the glass panel varies depending upon the glass texture chosen . The Water and Flemish texture options offer a light obscured view or level of privacy . The Reeds texture option offers a moderate level of obscured view . Rain and Ocean offer the highest level of privacy .
