There were a total of over 109,000 entries involved in these events, for an overall average of about 770 dogs entered per show. We find an equal number of shows with entries in excess of 1,000 dogs and those with entries of fewer than 500 dogs — 32 events in each category. There were no shows with more than 2,000 entered in the four weekends reported this month. The end of August saw 32 shows held in 11 locations on the last weekend of the month. The 30,548 total entries made for an average of 955 dogs per event. The largest shows were in Atlanta, Ga., with a total of 6,330 entries for that four-show cluster. Not surprisingly, the busiest weekend in this report was the Labor Day weekend, which started off September with a total of 49 shows taking place in 17 venues. The five-show cluster in Lexington, Ky., produced the largest entries, but many small shows brought the average number of dogs entered per event over the weekend down to only 614. The total number of entries among these 49 shows was just over 30,100. The second weekend in September involved 23 events in 10 cities. The concentration was greater, with nearly 19,000 dog entries among these shows, for an average of more than 800 dogs per event. The largest entries were found in Bridgewater, N.J., in that three-show cluster. Another weekend with a total of about 30,100 dog entries, matching the entry total of Labor Day weekend, was DOGSinREVIEW.com the third weekend of September, which consisted of 38 events in 14 states. Vallejo, Calif., was where the greatest number of entries were found. The average entry per show over this weekend was just under 800 dogs per event. Entry 541.
