Dr . Klein continued his judging with the Junior Showmanship competition . He gave each of the exhibitors due attention and selected the Best Junior Handler from the Open Junior class , which is limited to those Junior handlers between 9 and 12 years of age . Twelve-year-old Alexis Kendall Jones of Elizabeth City , N . C ., captured the top award .
As with all Parent Clubs , the business of the club is often conducted sandwiched between the competition events . The AHCA is no exception to this . Over the span of days , the Annual Membership meeting , the Rescue meeting and the Regional Clubs meeting were held . Ken Amos , the AHCA President , presided at the Annual Meeting and conducted it with efficiency and good humor throughout . His tact and genial nature are attributes befitting one in the presidency of an organization .
The day concluded with an art auction and buffet dinner that was a sold-out event . The Chairman of the art auction , Lex Robertson , assembled an incredible collection of exquisite donations . There were 70 items donated by the vendors , artists and collectors . Kay Finch ’ s works were represented by several pieces , including the famous ceramic Afghan Hound sculpture , “ Johnnie .”
