REFLECTIONS, CONTINUED FROM PAGE 36 special one, and I had the pleasure of working with an incredible team that made that National spectacular. Wish for 2017: I’m so excited for 2017, as it’s already filled with some amazing projects. My New Year’s wish is to focus on large oil paintings (super big — almost taller than me!). Plus new breeds incorporated into my artwork (although Pugs and Poms still make me nervous). Johnnie & Will Roe Moment of 2016: Buying a house with Will. — Johnnie Marrying Johnnie. — Will Wish for 2017: Travel more! — Johnnie Spend more time with family. — Will moment of 2016 has to be winning the Cirneco dell’Etna National Specialty from the classes with Ch. Colisto’s Bella, who we imported from Russia! What a thrill it is to receive any recognition at a National Specialty... But to be awarded Best of Breed — in this wonderful new breed — under a judge that is so well respected (Bill Shelton) was beyond anything I had ever dreamed of! Wish for 2017: My greatest wish for 2017 is that we all, as Americans, can put the angry words and tensions of these last months behind us. Accept and welcome our new President with the respect that the office deserves and work together to heal this country! Carol Smith Moment of 2016: My most memorable moment was to watch Brie, BIS, SBIS GCh.G Whiskeytown Dalwhinnie Brie SH, CGC, sweep our National Specialty weekend for the second year in a row then go on to win Best in Show that weekend. It was a first for our breed for a bitch to win a BIS, a dream come true for us! Wish for 2017: My hope for 2017 is to achieve the highest field title in our breed (NAVHDA VC), something we’ve always dreamed about! Moment of 2016: My most memorable moment for 2016 was judging the Italian Greyhound National Specialty in St. Louis. It was an honor to be voted by my peers for this special assignment. Wish for 2017: In 2017, I am looking forward to the Celtic Cluster in York, Pa., with four back-to-back independent Italian Greyhound specialties. Our 2017 National Specialty is being held in Lexington, Ky., which will be a first-time visit for me. I’m really looking forward to these shows with a young dog I’ll be taking out. Kathy Schwabe Lois-Ann Snyder Moment of 2016: Without question, my most memorable Moment of 2016: My fondest memory of the year is sitting on the patio of the Great Basin Brewing Company in Reno, Nev., with my friends and toasting Outlaw’s Best in Show with a glass of their Outlaw stout. It was a perfect evening! Wish for 2017: My resolution for 2017 is to become more involved with my local kennel clubs and give back more to the sport that I have loved for 40 years! Kristi Woods Betty-Anne Stenmark Moment of 2016: Four memorable moments immediately come to mind: judging some great Terrier breeds at Westminster; the three-week-long summer trip to my birthplace, British Columbia; winning Best of Breed at the Dandie Dinmont Terrier Club of America National Specialty at Montgomery with a home-bred bitch; and judging the Bloodhound National Specialty. Wish for 2017: My fondest wish for the new year is simple — that the sport of purebred dogs turns the tide and starts gaining ground. 40 DOGSinREVIEW.com
