world and loves every part of it.
The competition, the passion and
the friends you make along the
way. I have been in the fancy all
my life, but to share that moment
with him and experience the journey of a campaign with him has
been amazing.
Wish for 2017: For 2017 I look forward to our wild adventures for dog shows and everyday life together. I cherish every
moment we have together. I wish everyone all the happiness
for the years ahead.

Moment of 2016: The day the AKC Dog Museum asked me
to prepare for another exhibit, which will run June through
September 2017. “Dog Show Scenes II, Canine Impressions.”
Wish for 2017: No fondest wish or New Year’s resolution —
haven’t thought that far ahead!

Moment of 2016: 2016 has been such a special year that it’s
hard to choose just one. So in the spirit of the DIR readership,
it would have to be watching my husband, Dan Nechemias,
pilot our homebred Tibetan Mastiff to Best of Breed at the
Westminster Kennel Club show. It was amazing to witness him
fulfill this shared dream. I felt like a kid again as I watched
and cheered them on in the Group competition that night at
the Garden.
Wish for 2017: My 2017 wish is for all of us to continue to
enjoy good health and that we all have the chance to create
many more special memories.

Moment of 2016: My most memorable moment of 2016 was
winning the Saluki National vote for 2018.
Wish for 2017: My fondest wish is to keep going!

Moment of 2016: We just had two rescue Afghans come
in, matted to the hilt. After we got them “skinned,” including
huge balls from under their pads, we took them out to the
big exercise area to let them run. Both of them just walked
very carefully, picking up their feet and shaking them — finally, they took off like Afghans should! They were feeling
the prickly grass on their pads and toes for the first time in a
long time! Needless to say, we were very happy we were able
to get them and now give them a better life. Rescue is tough,
but moments like this make it all worthwhile.
Wish for 2017: And for next year, people, please remember, it is just a dog show. Have consideration and
compassion and tolerance for everyone involved: show supers, dogs, exhibitors, visitors, show workers ... everyone!
Let’s have lots more smiles and fun!

Moment of 2016: Since this question is being asked of me
with a little over two months left in the year, I’m hoping my
most memorable moment from 2016 is yet to come. (Though
I must admit that being asked by Dogs in Review to provide
my thoughts is certainly an honor for this middling functionary at AKC!)
Wish for 2017: If I could wave my magic wand, next year
