Inside Look: Tightline Studio and Artist Josh Udesen

Josh Udesen has the incredible ability and vision to recreate those visions anglers have as we fantasize late at night about the trophy we caught long ago, or the one that got away that morning . Josh has had many colaborations including being in the Drake Magazine and Monatana Fly Company. He also designed the Dog N Trout Logo on the top of page one of this periodical. He works from Boise ID in his Tightline Studio, where you can purchase a piece of his work for yourself!

Paul Harvey where are you?

In writing this, I take a long drag from the flask. It’s been a grueling day. I fell into the drink right off the bat this morning and warm clothes are miles behind me. I broke off my first fish because I rushed my knots, part of being frustrated with being wet. The first fish in the net was no longer than my hand. The third “fish” turned out to be submerged log that ended up making me cut my leader. All I had left was sink-tip. Mid-morning produced almost a historic BWO hatch. All I could ifsh was a black wooly bugger with my sink tip. I swore so loud it echoed for miles. Troop 44 Boy Scouts canoed past me shortly after with looks of fright. One stopped and gave me a copy of the Bible. On top of everything my lunch got wet too. The beer I drank, not to my knowledge at the time of consumption, was far expired. The diarrhea that ensued is not one of my happiest memories. The weather turned up 40 degrees around 11 am. A group of girls in float tubes passed my way. Only one was wearing a bikini. Despite the heat wave, my clothes did not get dry. At this very moment I smell something awful. In closing this entry I take another pull from the flask. It was a grueling day of fishing. I wouldn’t trade it for 100 perfect days off the river.
