A MODEL’S INSIGHT TO FASHION We wanted to ask Lendale some questions about his views on fashion, having an inside view and understanding of the fashion industry. What would you say is important when you choose your style? The venue, location, & surroundings (as in who will be around you). I notice you have great hair, would you say you spend a long time on grooming etc? Being of African American & Native American descent, my hair is naturally curly. For photo shoots & TV gigs I usually wear it straight, which takes about 20-60mins depending on how straight I want my look for the day. Do you have any particular products you would recommend? My beautiful & talented mother “Roberta” is a cosmetologist, I always choose thermal protectant products when using a flat-iron. I would recommend Chi Silk Infusion products & Redken thermal products if you use a flat-iron on your hair on a daily/weekly basis. Do you have a favourite item of clothing? I love jeans, especially denim. I’m sure everyone can relate & say they have a favourite pair. Would you say that quality equals price? As far as quality VS price, it’s true you get what you pay for to a certain extent. I will say some high-end designer brands are clearly extremely overpriced for the average income. “Although I’m now a public figure & get asked for my autograph from time to time, I don’t consider myself above anyone. It’s important to stay who you are when dealing with fame or being in the public eye. My accomplishments are building blocks towards my ultimate dreams in life.” We look forward towards seeing Lendale’s upcoming photo shoot with celebrity photographer Nigel Barker from ANTM. Chicago’s Emurge Magazine has selected him for their November cover. He’s scheduled to present the 2014 Feather Awards in Johannesburg, South Africa this Fall & fashion icon Tyra Banks now follows him on Twitter, how exciting! - 35 -
