Her beautifully hand-crafted pieces are made from quality metals and stones, fashioned into an exquisite collection of earrings, necklaces, and bracelets. Some months later, she noticed every time she went to a neighborhood stone store, she felt her depression lift. She says, “The colors, textures, and natural A Daughter’s Dedication to Her Father. Monica named the business Sacred in memory of her dad and everything she went through during that period of her life. She says, “I learned that life is shorter than you think and you need to get moving and enjoy it if that’s your plan. My time, my body, my love, and my life holds value, and should be treated as such, but it is I who sets the price.” “I learned that life is shorter than you think and you need to get moving and enjoy it, if that’s your plan.” A bit of a risk taker in activities as well as life, Monica had what she calls an ‘a-ha’ moment and with no vision in sight, sold everything she had and moved to California in a matter of three months. She shares with Daughters of a King [DOAK] Magazine, “I like the fact that I can look over my life and I don’t have to wonder about the what ifs. If there’s something I want, I go after it and give it my best shot. If it doesn’t work out, I can, at least, say that I tried.” The vision for Sacred by MP was accidental and came from the loss of Monica’s father in November 2012. She was preparing to visit him for the Thanksgiving holidays and three days before she was to see him, she received a call that he was gone. That day, the old Monica died and a new person was birthed. thing she knew, she was getting approached by store owners and more people wanting to purchase her designs. The business started from there. The domino effect of circumstances placed Monica in a two-year process of many challenging lessons that birthed her into who she was supposed to be. She shares, “I cried. I was depressed. I felt isolated, but most of all, I was forced to face my own demons and because of that, I grew and matured; and more importantly, I thrived. I paid a high price for this. I don’t want to learn this lesson again, so I can’t let just anything or anybody handle it - it
