DivKid's Month Of Modular Issue #5 February 2016 | Page 3

First up here's a little teaser from XAOC

Devices (videos of their Sewastopol

and Batumi from me HERE and HERE)

that was posted on their twitter page.

You can see the tweet posted and that

is literally it. Nothing else. So a simple little tease but I wanted to share it as I really like the XAOC Devices modules so I'm excited to see more coming from them. To get involved with a discussion about this little teaser there's a Muff Wiggler thread HERE.

As I said in last month's issue with everything that came out at NAMM I needed some time to digest it all and here's what's stuck in my mind from NAMM still this month. First up the WMD Aperture filter designed by Tyler Thompson at WMD. I mention Tyler specifically as we met online a couple of years ago as we were both getting into modular and we actually made a collaboration electro house track together called 'Hacker' which you can listen to and download for free HERE.

The Aperture filter from WMD first

appeared in ColourCV format for the

Black Market Modular Colour Palette

(this sounds fantastic by the way, and

following my video for the Colour Palette

will be another with the WMD cards for

that format) and is now coming as a full

blown module in it's own right. The module is a band pass filter with variable bandwidth created by combining a high and low pass filter. You can CV pretty much everything on it and nice additional features include a dry / wet blend, saturation and also an in built feedback circuit. You can see the module in the image above and it also features an LED strip showing you which areas of the frequency spectrum are active with the filtering. It's also next to the new Gamma Wave Source digital oscillator which seems to be deliberately not mentioned much from the NAMM footage I've seen, not sure why. Check out Sonic State's NAMM video with Tyler from WMD demoing the filter by clicking HERE.

I first saw this post on Synthtopia and it's Vintage King's "Meet The Maker" series of videos this time it's with modular manufacturers. You've got Doepfer, WMD, 4ms, Make Noise, Roland and Moog all on the panel talking about

modular. A knowledgable presenter would have got more out of the panel, which is a shame but check out the video HERE and let me know what you think.
