DivKid's Month Of Modular Issue #20 | Page 4

Awww aren't these cute!

miniMO have released a new series of affordable 8 bit modular synth devices. Based on an ATtiny microprocessor you load in your functions and programs in a similar way to the Patchblocks devices. Check them out HERE.

Roland promise to redefine our future again between the 26th of May and 23rd of June. Late June will have some synth products. Speculation has mentioned an 808 in the

small style of the new 909 clone/model they released against the more recent mini 303. I'd be interested to see what people want to see so feel free to get in touch at the links on the final page. Roland's page for the new products is HERE.

To fully round off Superbooth 2017 lets have a look at some of the

things I couldn't cover last month. Let's start with the TipTop Fold

Processor, which granted wasn't new at Superbooth but it did sound

fantastic! The module is a Serge style wave folder with bias control

and fold level as well as sub octaves in the lower part of the module.

The subs (like most sub generators) read the zero crossing in the

waveform so as you fold they morph and modulate much like PWM.

Which sounded ace in the flesh! Check out my video with Gur from

TipTop HERE.

Befaco came with a pair of big modules offering big functionality. The Hexmixer and Hexpander give you stereo mixing with EQ and lots of send and return routing as well as playable switches as mutes. The unique take was that every channel had a 3 band EQ on it which was "hard DJ style" and the master output has a soft style EQ for more subtle shaping of the overall mix. Hit play on the video in magazine or check that out HERE.

Those that follow Expert Sleepers may have seen that Os teased us with a Aprils Fool joke which was a General MIDI based module. We all thought it was funny until I could hear a MIDI version of Toto Africa playing on the set up day at Superbooth and wandering closer we saw Os with an actual General MIDI module.
