The Office of Naval Research (ONR) is interested in receiving proposals from Historically Black Colleges and Universities and Minority Institutions (HBCU/MI) for basic research relating to the following topic areas: Topic Area 1 - Information Dominance Topic Area 2 - Platform Design and Survivability Topic Area 3 - Power and Energy Topic Area 4 - Power Projection and Integrated Defense See FOA for specifics within Topic Area’s Synopsis: This FOA invites applications that propose to develop novel research infrastructure that will advance the science of aging in specific areas requiring interdisciplinary partnerships or collaborations. This FOA will use the NIH Phased Innovation Award (R21/R33) mechanism to provide up to 2 years of R21 support for initial developmental activities, and up to 3 years of R33 support for expanded activities. Through this award, investigators will develop a sustainable research infrastructure to support projects that address key interdisciplinary aging research questions. Program Title: NIDA Program Project Grant Applications (P01) Contact: Dr. Jag Khalsa, 301-443-2159, [email protected] Sponsor Name: Department of Energy Deadline: 9/30/2017 Program Title: Innovative Development in Energy-Related Applied Science (IDEAS) Contact: ARPA-E- [email protected] Website: http://www.grants.gov/ Website: https:// search-grants.html? grants.nih.gov/grants/guide/pa- agencyCode%3DDOE files/PAR-16-393.html Synopsis: This Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) announces the availability of support for collaborative research by multi-disciplinary teams which is of high priority to NIDA and leads to synergistic outcomes based on the synthesis of multiple research approaches. The NIDA Program Projects funding opportunity will support research in which the funding of three or more highly meritorious projects as a group enriches both the component projects and the overall program to offer significant scientific advantages over supporting the same projects as individual research grants (i.e., synergy). For the duration of the award, each Program must consist of a minimum of three research projects focused on issues critical to advance the mission and goals of NIDA. Synopsis: This Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) provides a continuing opportunity for the rapid support of early-stage applied research to explore innovative new concepts with the potential for transformational and disruptive changes in energy technology. IDEAS awards are intended to be flexible and may take the form of analyses or exploratory research that provides the agency with information useful for the subsequent development of focused technology programs. IDEAS awards may also support proof-of-concept research to develop a unique technology concept, either in an area not currently supported by the agency or as a potential enhancement to an ongoing focused technology program. Applications must propose concepts that are not covered by open ARPA-E focused FOAs and that also do not represent incremental improvements over existing technology. 9
