On May 5th, several members of our association attended a meeting with Clay County Utility Authority. The meeting was devoted to economic development in Clay County and how the Clay County Utility Authority can best facilitate and support economic expansion. In attendance were contractors, developers and engineers. There was some discussion regarding changing some of their materials requirements to align more closely with other local utilities. We will keep you posted about changes and new information as it becomes available.

The following week, a meeting was held with JTA regarding their bid process. We met with Jackie Glass, Teresa Lind, and Nail Nance. We are working with them to make the bid process less onerous, budgets more realistic, and appropriate timetable between when bids are announced and when they are due. We will work with JTA to resolve some of these issues and then schedule a meeting with contractors and other interested parties to discuss the changes and also talk about some upcoming projects.

We had beautiful weather for our night at the Jacksonville Suns Baseball. We had over 100 members come out to join us for a BBQ dinner, free Suns hat and $1 beer night. Unfortunately, the Suns were not able to pull off a win against the Mississippi Braves.

Our next event will be our scholarship night to be held on July 16th at 6:00 pm at Maggiano’s. We will be presenting the J. Richard Baker and the Mike Allen scholarships.

We are starting to plan for our annual fishing tournament to be held on August 22nd at the Northeast Florida Marlin Association in St. Augustine. Registration and sponsorship forms are now available. Sponsorships begin at $125. Please visit our website at nucanf.com for additional information.
