Governor DeSantis opens meeting
Inside Peak: Deregathon
On Thursday, January 31st, Governor Ron DeSantis and DBPR Secretary
Halsey Beshears hosted the highly touted “Deregathon” at Valencia
College in Orlando. In his opening remarks, the Governor stated, “We’re
working hard to reduce barriers to opportunity for the people of Florida.
Florida needs a licensure system that protects consumers but doesn’t put
up roadblocks for people to succeed.” The Governor went on to point out
some licensed professions that he saw a need for reduction in licensing
requirements or he openly wondered why some professions were licensed
at all. Luckily, ours was not in his crosshairs.
