to slow down during the economic downturn and nearing age 60 I thought maybe it was time to start thinking about retirement.... But I ran for office instead and it was the best move I could have made. I was elected to the Florida House in 2010 and then the Florida Senate in 2016 and haven’t looked back. What is your educational background? PASSIDOMO: I graduated cum laude from Trinity College (now Trinity University) in Washington DC in 1975, and received my law degree from Stetson University College of Law in 1978. What are you currently reading? PASSIDOMO: I am currently reading the bills that my colleagues are beginning to file ahead of the 2017 Legislative Session. Grill master or reservations? PASSIDOMO: Grill Master during the week. Reservations on weekends. What is the secret to your success? PASSIDOMO: From a very young age, I was taught that the key to success is working hard, giving back to your community and that the most important assets you will ever have are your reputation and your integrity. Those simple principles have led me well and guided all of my decisions over the years. What is your favorite college or pro team? PASSIDOMO: New York Yankees. Campfire or fireplace? PASSIDOMO: Campfire. What was the first car you drove? PASSIDOMO: Mercury Capri (fondly called by my friends and family “The Yellow Grasshopper”). • • • Do you have any “guilty pleasure” TV Shows? PASSIDOMO: Game of Thrones, Veep and, most importantly, HGTV. What is your business philosophy? PASSIDOMO: Work hard, play by the rules and give back to the community. What are your hobbies or interests outside of work? PASSIDOMO: Cooking, opera and spending time with my family. Do you have any pets? PASSIDOMO: Yes. A yellow lab named Tucker.
