have the opportunity to choose the
educational pathway that is the best fit
for them, even if it is located outside
of their designated attendance zone.
Specialized Programs
The specialized programs within MISD’s Power of Choice allow students to take advantage of specific
programs that are tailored to their needs. Specialized programs have an application process. Students
who meet the criteria are provided transportation to attend the program.
TWO-WAY DUAL LANGUAGE
Young Spanish and English native
speakers have the opportunity to learn
two languages through cooperative
learning and collaboration.
The program also allows students
to become bilingual, biliterate and
multicultural.
JERRY KNIGHT STEM ACADEMY
The Jerry Knight STEM Academy is an advanced academic program designed to provide a rigorous
and focused course of study emphasizing science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) within
real-world situations.
