TRACK ATHLETES WIN BIG AT STATE After the UIL State Track & Field Meet, plenty of top medals were earned by MISD student-athletes, and the Lake Ridge High School girls finished as the 5A state champions. SEVENTH-GRADERS RECOGNIZED AS DUKE TIP SCHOLARS Seven Mansfield ISD seventh- graders were recognized by the Duke University Talent Identification Program (Duke TIP) for high scores on the ACT or SAT college entrance exams. MIDDLE SCHOOL COACHES SAVE LIFE OF STUDENT- ATHLETE Coaches at Danny Jones Middle School used quick thinking to revive a student- athlete who passed out during practice. Doctors say the campus staff saved the child’s life. BOARD WINS $5,000 FOR EXCELLENCE IN EDUCATION Mansfield ISD’s Board of Trustees was chosen as one of five school boards in Texas to receive the 2018 H-E-B Excellence in Education® Leadership Award. The honor recognizes school boards that have demonstrated a true commitment to education. MISD CHOIR STUDENTS PERFORM WITH AMOS LEE Singer/songwriter Amos Lee made a stop in Mansfield ISD during his national solo tour. MISD high school show choirs were the opening and closing act. Howard Middle School’s Kailey Choi won her first district spelling bee in third grade, the youngest to win it in MISD. She reclaimed her title in 2018 as an eighth- grader, her last year of eligibility.
