THE SPIRIT IN YOU

like-minded believers. Within three months of actively modeling, I could not emotionally and spiritually take the darkness anymore and cried out to God. I asked Him that if He wanted me to continue this path, to give me a new community that I could shine in. Hours after I did this, God gave me a new and safe network of photographers in my city. Photographers who are open to hearing the gospel and most importantly, built me up as a model and an individual.

Within the short time that I have been on this path, I have learned a variety of lessons that apply to every believer, but I can sum it up in four simple pieces of advice.

1) You MUST put on the full armor of God before entering any situation in life.

Ephesians 6:11 states: “Put on the full armor of God, so that you will be able to stand firm against the schemes of the devil.”

2) Pray for the Spirit to give you discernment within every situation.

John 4:1 Says, “Dear friends, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world.”

3) Stay in fellowship with a community of believers. Psalms 27:17 states: “As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another.”

4) Remember why you are walking the journey that you are currently on, don’t lose focus on the end goal of whatever we do in life- to build the kingdom of God.

Romans 8:28 states: “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose”

When I started this path, I did not realize how much I would have to rely on God with entirely new aspects, but the rewards have been worth the hardships. I have had the privilege to share my testimony and speak life with numerous photographers, models, and makeup artist, within the community that God has placed me for this season. I would not have had these opportunities if I quit, the first time I was tested. We are called to be salt and light to a dark world that desperately needs the hope that Christ brings and in order to do that, believers cannot stick to purely doing ministry in their own places of worship.

“You are all children of the light and children of the day. We do not belong to the night or to the darkness. So then, let us not be like others, who are asleep, but let us be awake and sober.” 1 Thessalonians 5:5-6, ESV.
