The Empowerment Zone
The term empowerment refers to measures designed to increase the degree of autonomy and self –determination in people and in the communities in order to enable them to represent their interests in a responsible and self-determined way, acting on their own authority. Empowerment as action refers both to the process of self-empowerment and to the professional support of people, which enables them to overcome their sense of powerlessness and lack of influence, and to recognize and use their resources.
That in itself is so full of potential and strengths beyond what you can imagine. It leaves a wide open door of opportunities in whatever direction you choose to take. But let’s stop a moment and resolve some issues. The first issue is that empowerment needs a person with a cause of change that produces a chain of actions or reactions. The second issue is that empowerment needs a starting point. A man without a vision will perish. I watch the hopeless attitudes of a non-spirited generation that has little fire or none at all.
Where is the curiosity that releases the positive psychology potential known as a flow or the ZONE? It’s the mental state of operation in which a person performing an activity is fully immersed in a feeling of energized focus, full involvement, and enjoyment in the process of the activity. In other words, ZONE is characterized by complete adsorption in what one does.
Sometimes I’ve often wondered if that’s the reason why people get hooked on drugs or some kind of mind/mood altering chemical. It enhances their ego and gives them a false sense of security that elevates their creativity. I know that’s an assumption but it was worth a thought. If that’s possible, then all one needs is a strong influence that’s in comparison to a guided light.
