THE SPIRIT IN YOU

sinned again in hopes of finding some sort of healing or at least some kind of high, even if it was short lived. I desired a relationship with my heavenly Father; however, I did not have enough curiosity to open the word of God myself. I continued to live believing this lie.

Over time, in a search of healing, I became a part of a Christian community filled with believers who had once been broken but are now overcomers in Christ. Within this community, I started attending a women’s Bible study and they showed me that I was not too far gone, and that Jesus was there to welcome me with open arms. It is because of these ladies that I have a heart for showing Christ to those who are hurt.

You could be questioning where your place is in the body of Christ. You may be believing the LIE that you have to live a flawless life in order to be a part of the body. Let me encourage you by reminding you that no matter the paths that you have walked, you have a place in the body. God created us individually; putting us each on different journeys. The path you could be on may be filled with thorns and bushes. You may have had a difficult childhood or have fallen on stressful

financial times, but be reminded that even though it might not be in your plan, it is definitely a part of God’s and He thoroughly planned the paths you will be on for His own specific reason.

A short time ago, I was in a chapel and the Lord reminded me of a special aspect of being a believer who was once broken. This room had a simple layout but had stain glass windows. It was a sunny day and the light was shining through the glass. In the moment that I was admiring the art, I realized that each individual color had to be cut in certain ways in order for the picture to be what it is supposed to be. The windows in the church reflect the most amount of light in the building. I could not help but be encouraged too that if I was not ‘cut’ in a certain way, I would not be able to reflect the light of God to other individuals who are broken. In the art of stain glass, the creator must have a plan and purpose when allowing each piece of glass to be cut in specific ways in order for the picture to have the intended beauty.

The church goes beyond a building; it is a family that is one through Christ. Because of this each follower of Christ has a part in the body. If you are a broken believer, who is trying to find your place in the body of Christ, be encouraged and know you are a part of the stain glass windows in a place of worship that had to be cut in certain ways to show the beauty of His light.
