VACATION AND TRAVEL

In practically every state your State Capitol building offers FREE visits; some of which have FREE guided or self-guided tours. Before making plans to go, make sure of the tour hours and also the best place to park. Some parking is metered, some have a parking garage, and others may have their own parking lots. By accessing all this information on line, it will give you all the information you need to know beforehand. Keep in mind that all State Capitols are different with their information, but for the most part they are all FREE to visit and tour.

Detroit is a good place to start in finding some top notch FREE deals offered, one being the “Detroit Historical Museum” located on 5401 Woodward Ave, which is a top of the line FREE attraction. Parking at this attraction is only $7.00 as of 2018, which is located next to the museum on ground level. See website for hours!

Now, if you have enough energy and you wish to view another FREE attraction then keep your car parked there and walk across the street to the DIA which is the “Detroit Institute of Arts” located on 5200 Woodward Ave. If you are a resident of Wayne, Oakland or Macomb counties you will receive FREE unlimited visits. All other counties have to pay for this attraction. Also check out the FREE events that are offered on certain days when you access their website. This is a top of the line FREE attraction. If you need to eat after viewing all the art, then while you are at the DIA, they offer food and shopping other than art.

While you are in the downtown Detroit area drive over to the “GM Renaissance Center”. The FREE attraction being offered is located at the Jefferson Avenue lobby by the Winter Garden entrance, level one.

They offer a FREE one hour tour, twice daily, Monday-Friday. Based on the reviews I’ve read this is a fun tour. Always call these FREE attractions if you need any information that their website does not explain well before you arrive.
