During the program, the participants

are taught to build their business

vocabulary relevant to the business

world, such as the difference between

bringing in revenue and making a profit.

They will learn different types of business

structures, for example, sole

proprietorship. Also, stressing the

importance of business etiquette as well

as having integrity in business dealings

will be addressed. They will be

encouraged to appreciate the importance

of dressing for success and learning their

individual fashion personalities. They will

learn about legal forms and insurance,

ex., liability insurance. They will become

familiar with business tax forms and gain

an understanding of financial statements.

We want the participants to develop and

write a realistic and viable business plan.

They will learn how to pitch their

business to potential funders. Also,

understanding the importance of having a

business relationship with a bank or

credit union will be taught. They will

learn the differences between a non-

profit business on the state level and a

non-profit 501c3.

Leadership skills through role playing

and group activities to strengthen their

ability to work well with others and how

to deal with conflicts in a mock business

setting will take place. The program will

teach the participants in areas of creative

marketing strategies relative to their

business goals, and other topics to help

them have a clear and concise concept of

their businesses. They will also be

encouraged to understand personal

financial stability and know the

importance of having good credit, what a

credit score is and the role it plays in

their business and personal lives. Finally,

we want our participants to be successful

in their personal lives by developing the

total person through building self-

esteem and self-confidence that will

reflect success in every area of their lives.
