There are companies like; rootweb.com, myheritage.com, gencircles.com, genealogy.com, ancestry.com, familysearch.org and many more. If you are not 100% serious, then the website you may want to try first is familysearch.org, which is a Mormon site of the LDS church. This will give you information on your family, although not all the information on this site will be 100% accurate, but it will be somewhat helpful. This site is FREE to join and this will give you an idea of how Genealogy searches work and will help you decide whether you want to continue. If you like what you see and want the most accurate and up-to-date information, then ancestry.com is the site for you. This site will cost a little bit to join, but it is very well worth it. It has census reports, old newspapers that have obituaries, birth, death, marriage and military records etc. Also, you can look at passenger listings if your family ancestors started in another country, DNA testing is available and so much more.

There is nothing more fascinating to me than knowing where I came from and how I got to where I’m at now. Genealogy is becoming more popular nowadays with many people. With DNA being now so advanced, you can have a DNA test kit sent to your front door that will tell you in a pie chart what part Irish, French, German or any other ethnic you may be in percentages etc. This test will show the makeup of a person from a submitted saliva sample you mail in to get the results of your DNA test. In some cases, there are companies out there that will let you know if you are related to someone unknown to you that has already taken this test prior to you.
