THE SPIRIT IN YOU

No matter how hard we try to capture, save, or savor it, time will always be fleeting and we will eventually be out of it. It is how we use our time to build and increase the Kingdom of God that matters in the light of eternity.

I am in a busy season of my life. My modeling career has been flourishing and I am shooting several times a week. Between the time that I am working at the local coffee shop, modeling, or participating in workshops and classes, I am rarely at home. On most days it feels as if I am living in my vehicle because I am constantly on the road. A few weeks ago, I got into a minor car accident on a road that I drive on a daily basis. Fortunately, everyone involved was physically okay, but both vehicles were wrecked. I was not looking forward to my daily life of constantly being on the road after that night but life continued and I had photoshoots and classes to attend. This car accident was a reminder of just how short life is.

After this happened, I began to notice how much time I spend commuting to

different places in comparison of how much time I actually spend in a week with photographers. I will spend four hours commuting a day, going to photo shoots all over the city and spend maybe two hours overall in front of the camera. I have been feeling mundane in the midst of everything that is going on in the world.

A few days after my accident, I was contacted by a well-known photographer. They had a photo shoot the following day and a model had dropped out. They were frantically in need a replacement. Without giving it hardly any thought, or any prayer, I agreed to be a model for them. I assumed that because this photographer was well-known, it would be a good fit. As I was driving to the shoot, I nearly got into another car accident on the exact same road I had the previous accident. In the moment that this happened, a song came on the Christian radio station that I was listening to with the lyrics along the lines of, “I will be with you wherever you go.” I immediately felt God’s peace within that situation.

"As I am observing how the photographer is interacting with the other staff on set, I am seeing the classic signs of a photographer who is a sexual predator."
