“Let Our Light Shine”

It is amazing to me how there are so many people that live on the planet. Thinking of America alone, there are billions of people. There are hundreds and thousands of friends; we share even from our individual Facebook pages. Every day and in every single way, there are hundreds of people that we each interact with whether we notice it, or not.

Just think. If every day, we each let the light shine that God has given us, how many people you could inspired in just one single day? Whether it is driving a little bit slower to exhibit some courtesy or, even if it’s holding the door open, waiting that awkward time telling them not to rush, as you patiently smile and wait for them to walk through the door. Oftentimes, we forget that the goal is to, “Let our light shine,” and that light comes with rays. You know those little squiggly lines that your child draws on their family portrait, yes those! It is those rays that easily go unnoticed, but they actually have the most substance, meaning, and soul- touching abilities. Have you ever stepped into the sunshine and just allowed the rays and vitamins to enter your body? If not, it is definitely worth the experience. It is one of the most warming feeling, to really feel that warmth rise through your body and all the way

through your bones and out of your pores. This is what the Lord means when he refers to his children, letting their light shine.

There were two news stories that I came across the month. The first story was about a black family that moved into a very extravagant mansion, in southern Texas. The upkeep of the historical home includes grounds keepers, housekeepers, and any other necessity for maintenance. This family may not have known it then, but I am sure they now recognize how they have managed to let their light shine so brightly—that those rays of good will,
