Ardrossan
• Ardrossan, located south of Hwy 16 on Range Road
222, is a growing community that had its beginnings in
1909 as a Grand Trunk Pacific Railway stop.
• The hamlet is home to the state-of-the-art Ardrossan
Recreation Complex, see page 11, and visit:

• Three Schools: Ardrossan Elementary School,
Ardrossan Junior/Senior High School (Elk Island
Public Schools) and Holy Redeemer Catholic School
(Elk Island Catholic Schools).
• Ardrossan residents built the “Orange Hall” in 1913 that lasted until the 1940s.
Memorial Hall was built by the war guild and the Ardrossan community group in 1947
and named for those souls lost in the war. The hall is now operated by the Ardrossan

Collingwood Cove
• Collingwood Cove is commonly referred to as “The
Cove” by its residents. In the early 1950 a very
popular summer lakeside resort. It’s located on
Cooking Lake which was at one time one of the best
lakes for recreational activities in the region.
• Today the lake is shallow but still attracts a variety
of wildlife. Cooking Lake is on the migration route
of millions of waterfowl and birds and many stay and nest in ideal locations in and
around The Cove.
• Since 1990 there have been several new developments in
the hamlet as new homes, playgrounds. Their annual
summer event is “fun in the Cove” with children’s
activities all day and a family BBQ in the evening.
