Worth the Drive Teresa’s Bar-B-Que SERVING UP SMOKED BUTTS SINCE 2004 NORTH BALDWIN BBQ QUEEN A t Teresa’s Bar B Que, over a century of wisdom, love and care goes into smok- ing and serving some of the best BBQ you’ll ever put in your mouth. Teresa Hicks, Bay Minette lo- cal, began “smokin’ butts” back in 2004, quickly becoming one of the top plac- es to eat among locals. As if Teresa’s lines weren’t already out the door, since receiving AL.com’s “Best Bar B Que” sandwich in Lower Alabama in 2016, winning the North Baldwin Chamber’s 2017 Small Business of the Year award, and being a State Finalist for the Ala- bama Small Business of the Year Award in 2017, her business has continued to grow as she now services a new demo- graphic of tourists visiting our area. The little joint located at 207 Oak Street in Bay Minette, is now easily recognized across the county, throughout the state and maybe even further. The restaurant serves up juicy meats smoked in house, dressed in delicious locally made BBQ sauce and served several ways, wonderful country side dishes, out of this world daily specials and banana pudding that will give your grandmother’s pudding a run for her money—seriously, it’s that good. Teresa jokes that her key ingredient in good BBQ is “time,” as the melt-in-your- mouth meats are slow-smoked in the pit out back, over pecan wood for over 12 hours. The restaurant offers dine in, carry out, delivery for large orders and even catering options. Take- out lines from call-ahead orders during the week move quickly as she is known to accommodate a 30-minute lunch crowd. Her catering business requires a whole other level of customer service but her reliable reputation and food quality consistency manages to thrive under her personal direction as well. Aside from the enticing food, Teresa’s Bar B Que holds a strong reputation of selflessness and devotion to children, to supporting the North Baldwin area financially and with food donations as well as time given to individual residents in times of need. Teresa is a staunch supporter of community organizations, our local schools and events in the area. Teresa’s Bar B Que is a shining example of a small business success story. Her commitment to personally helping her community thrive, her reliable engagement, and her steady business growth are constant examples of her as a northern star in our North Baldwin area. Teresa’s Country Bar B Que is located at 207 Oak Street in Bay Minette, right behind the City Hall.
