COPYRIGHT 2012, DIVERSITY INFORMATION RESOURCES, MINNEAPOLIS, MN SECTION 13 CITY AND STATE DIVERSE SUPPLIER PROGRAMS The 1989 Croson vs. City of Richmond court decision declared race-based set-aside programs unconstitutional - unless discrimination was documented. This decision resulted in the dismantling of many state and local diverse business utilization programs and, later, launched a series of disparity studies in an effort to prove past discrimination. Because many jurisdictions are in various stages of determining the status of their set-aside programs, preparing disparity studies, and undergoing additional court challenges, it is recommended that you contact the individual jurisdiction with which you are concerned for current information. Listed below is a status report on the diverse supplier procurement programs of many major US cities. Asre o court challenges cause changes and as disparity studies lead to new program initiatives, it is advisabler m fo to om check with the jurisdiction for the most current program status. s.c rce ou s Re o Inf orm inf ty ALASKA CALIFORNIA rsi ve Di Anchorage Los Angeles @ nfo Office of Equal Opportunity Minority Businessact I Opportunity Center nt co Municipality of Anchorage City Hall se a Ple 632 W 6th Ave, Ste 620 200 N Spring Street, 13th Floor N.
