The parties agreed to deploy all efforts so that the First Meeting of the Peru-India Joint Commission could take place in the fi rst semester of 2015. The First Joint Commission Meeting (JCM) between the Republic of India and the Republic of Peru was held in Lima, Peru on 21st June 2017. The Indian delegation was led by Ambassador (Ms) Preeti Saran, Secretary (East), Ministry of External Affairs of India and the Peruvian delegation was led by Ambassador Néstor Popolizio, Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of External Relations of Peru. The Meeting was held in an ambiance of constructive dialogue. Both sides expressed happiness over the establishment of the Joint Commission between India and Peru and agreed that the JCM is an important mechanism which provides an excellent opportunity to review the entire gamut of bilateral relations as well as regional and international issues, and efforts must be put for convening the Joint Commission meetings regularly. India and Peru celebrated the 40th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations on 26th March 2003. Foreign Minister Allan Wagner hosted a special ceremony on 21st March to commemorate the event. Furthermore, a special supplement on India was published in Peru’s leading daily “El Comercio” on 26th March and a painting competition on India was organised at the premises of the Chancery on 22nd March.
